Reducing landfill waste The Group makes a major contribution to conserving resources and reducing landfill waste. It is the leading UK collector of waste paper for recycling, handling 1.7 million tonnes of waste paper each year. It is also the UK's largest producer of recycled paper, manufacturing over 1 million tonnes of recycled paper each year. In addition, DS Smith Kaysersberg produces over 200,000 tonnes of recycled paper in continental Europe.

DS Smith's UK businesses involved in the recycling process are:

Severnside Recycling Severnside Recycling collects, each year, sufficient waste paper for recycling to fill the bowl of Wembley Stadium circa 20 times.

Severnside Recycling is not only the largest collector of waste paper in the UK but also collects other materials for recycling. It sources waste from major supermarkets, other retailers, other industrial and commercial operations and local authorities. It supplies waste paper to the Group's own paper mills and to other paper mills in the UK and abroad. Severnside's facilities management function also provides general recycling and waste disposal services. It is carrying out waste collection services for Tesco plc's project to collect consumer packaging waste at an increasing number of its stores. Visit Severnside Recycling's website for more information about its recycling services

St Regis St Regis is the UK's largest manufacturer of recycled paper. All the paper it produces at its four UK mills is made from waste paper - principally old corrugated cases and mixed waste paper. Visit St Regis's website for more information about its recycling operations and environmental policy

DS Smith Packaging DS Smith Packaging produces approximately 1.5 billion corrugated boxes per annum and they are all recyclable. It uses its expertise to specify the optimum construction of its boxes to fulfil their purpose and to facilitate recycling.
